Mosfet: Deathlike thrash 'n' roll

27/01/12  ||  gk

This is the second album from Austria’s Mosfet. “Deathlike Thrash ‘n’ Roll” is basically thrash metal mixed in with some modern groove metal and it’s not bad at all. In fact some songs like “Sativaville,” “Pigheaded Bitch” and “Tales of a Diarrhoea Werewolf” are catchy and fun. The band reminds me of Sodom and maybe what they would sound like if they had gone all groove metal around the time of “M-16.” The music is not particularly original and some of the riffs owe a fair bit to German thrash. Also, with 13 songs, the album gets a bit boring to sit through in one sitting as its basically the same formula with thrash riffs, a breakdown and the occasional mid tempo chug. More often than not, this formula gets a bit boring and repetitive and after a while the songs start to lose any individuality they might have possessed with all the songs sounding the same. Would have made for a fun little EP but as an album this is just too long and goes nowhere fast.

5/10: With 3 good songs out of 13.
